On the position of Gaulish within Celtic from the point of view of glottochronology.
- Abstract
The article presents a study regarding the chronological disintegration of Celtic languages especially the Gaulish. It states the use of recalibrated glottochronology method to establish the chronology which was developed by Sergei Starostin. It mentions that the method requires etymological analysis of wordlists of Celtic languages to differentiate the lexemes whether borrowed are inherited or determine the cognates. It says that the disintegration begun in ninth century anno Domini (A.D.) for Brittonic and A.D. 700 for Goidelic.
