- Abstract
Here, we synthesized FA-Cox (x = 0, 0.5, 1, 3) composites with different loading amount of Co element in the pretreated municipal solid waste fly ash using a simple two-step method. The prepared FA-Cox composites are mixture of microspheres and irregular blocks loading with varied Co phases. The investigation of electromagnetic characteristics prove that the electromagnetic absorption performance of as-prepared FA-Cox (x = 0, 0.5, 1, 3) composites could be effectively tuned by the loading amount of Co element. FA-Co1 composite obtained at 1 M Co2+-containing precursor solution possesses excellent electromagnetic absorption performance. The minimum reflection loss (RLmin) reached − 44.20 dB at the sample thickness of 1.34 mm, and the effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) was up to − 5.13 GHz when the sample thickness is 1.63 mm. The high performance is derived from optimal impedance matching and strong dielectric loss. This work paves the way for utilization of solid waste fly ash as microwave absorbent with broadband and intensive microwave absorption.
