This article focuses on "Estoire des Engleis," by Geffrei Gaimar, a history of England written in French in the 12th century. The author asserts that the purpose of the work, which combines history, legend, and various literary traditions, was to promote peace and expose the negative results of conflict. The author discusses Gaimar's technique of mixing past and present and the depiction of political events and history in the "Estoire."
