The article looks at nutrition research which examined whether vitamin D status is affected by exercise and body fat. In the article, the author refers to the third National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. According to the article, while vitamin D status is connected to exercise and body fat, the relationships appear to differ by race. The article discusses vitamin D synthesis, the distribution of subcutaneous fat, vitamin D metabolism, and the physiological effects of sunlight exposure.
