- Abstract
Essentialist definitions reduce the human being to mental limits, approaching him as an ahistorical and solitary self. Ricoeur proposes the theory of narrative identity as an alternative that addresses the historicity of identity from language, highlighting its dynamism. This review seeks to establish the contributions of narrative identity theory to psychology, social sciences, and education. In psychology it bases research, the Self, psychopathology and psychotherapy. He brings the social sciences closer to the relationship between the individual and culture. In the educational field, the interrelation between the individual and educational spaces is denoted, as well as the foundation of pedagogy.
