- Abstract
The article presents partial results of the study aimed to explore the characteristics of the teaching practices in a university institution from the point of view of its favorability for the development of creative ability in students. Used a quantitative approach, descriptive level, it was used the Likert scale designed according to indicators of teaching practices: strategies of cognitive mediation, strategies of emotional mediation, evaluation strategies, educational resources, planning and environment in the classroom. The instrument showed a high reliability (986, Cronbach's alpha) and was applied in two versions to 49 teachers and 93 students from the institution, in the faculties of management, psychology, law and engineering. The results showed the presence of deficiencies in teaching practices related with the promotion of the capacity creative of the students in all elements constituent of the practices. The greatest difficulties are revealed in the employment of strategies of cognitive mediation and evaluative strategies. Also, found that teachers tend to report a more favorable view about their practices, which contrasts with a lower evaluation by students, indicating that its real performance in the classroom is still oriented by more traditional methods, while verbally reported shows favourability towards the promotion of creativity in their students.
