POI CORRELATES OF A RELIGIOUS COMMITMENT INVENTORY.
- Authors
Graff, Robert W.; Ladd, Clayton E.
- Abstract
The article presents a study which tests empirically whether certain personality characteristics find expression in religious attitudes and practices. The study related a measure of self-actualization, the Personal Orientation Inventory, to a measure of religiosity Dimensions of Religious Commitment. The notion that strong adherence to conventional religious doctrine and positive mental health are antithetical to each other has been advanced by several theorists. The results suggest that test measures of self-actualization and religiosity are inversely related to each other.
