- Abstract
The article discuses a clinical study which measured the peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in healthy Japanese individuals aged 20 to 84 using optical coherence tomography (OCT). Statiscical data presented the average circumpapillary (cp) RNFL thickness of all eyes, as well as the negative correlation between average cp RNFL thickness and age particularly in the inferior-temporal to superior-temporal segments. Estimates showed a 0.18 percent decrease in the average cp RNFL thickness for every decade increase in age.
