- Title
CALVIN AND THE TWO KINGDOMS: CALVIN'S POLITICAL PHILOSOPHY IN LIGHT OF CONTEMPORARY DISCUSSION.
- Authors
JEONG KOO JEON
- Abstract
The article assesses French theologian John Calvin's analysis of Martin Luther's concept of the two kingdoms or the idea that God rules through both government and the gospel. It says that Calvin did not offer a clear distinction between church and state. It describes how Calvin's view developed through his own life in both religious and political contexts within a 16th-century form of European Christendom. It claims that Calvin's concept set the foundation for theocracy or the Christian state which he advocated as desirable in a society.
