- Abstract
The article discusses the case of a male patient with X-linked hypophosphatemic rickets (XLH) who developed a severe reaction to oral phosphate. Topics discussed include the use of the drug Cinacalcet to suppress the patient's parathyroid hormone (PTH) secretion and raise his serum phosphate to a level that will heal the disease, the potential side effects of the treatment strategy, including hypocalcemia, and the process by which calcimimetics work on XLH.
