- Abstract
This article examines Malek Bennabi's concept of colonizability. Bennabi is a prominent thinker known by his works about the conditions of renaissance of the modern Islamic society. Bennabi has deeply studied the core of problem of civilization. According to Bennabi, moral and social function of religion contributes in the establishment of civilization on a large scale. Colonization of minds has driven Muslims towards a state of moral and psychological decay. He contends that the causes of the Muslims' decline did not come from outside but most importantly there are some internal causes. The people are only colonized because of that they are able to be colonize. Consequently, Bennabi considers the dead ideas as causing the basis for colonization and expresses it as colonizability.
