- Title
Should Life Insurers Have Access to Genetic Test Results?
- Authors
Klitzman, Robert; Appelbaum, Paul S.; Chung, Wendy K.
- Abstract
The authors argue on the use of genetic information in the life insurance industry in the U.S. They are critical on the ethical issues in using this information for underwriting decisions of insurers. They also note that the increased use of electronic health records (EHRs) makes it easier for insurers to access data by reviewing medical records, checking family history, and requesting a consumer to undergo genetic testing.
