- Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the theses, articles and edicts based on literacy studies using content analysis in the field of Social Studies Education in Turkey. The research covers the studies on literacy Social Studies Education in Turkey between the years 2008-2022. A total of 51 studies, including 33 theses, 17 articles and 1 edict, were examined in this context. The national thesis scanning center of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK), TÜBİTAK ULAKBİM, Google Scholar search engine and Dergipark’s databases were used while selecting the studies within the scope of the research. Since it was aimed to analyze the studies on literacy in Social Studies Education in Turkey using qualitative methods and to identify general trends, the document review method was used in this research. The data obtained in the research were analyzed in the context of the aims, methods, sample groups, data collection tools, results and recommendations of the studies on literacy. The collected data were visualized and interpreted with the help of tables and figures. In order to ensure validity and reliability, the research questions and the purpose of the study are presented in a clear and understandable way in this study. As a result of the research, it has been determined that studies are carried out on different types of literacy in Social Studies Education and that the skill levels of teachers, teacher candidates and students are low in many literacy types. In this context, various suggestions have been presented.
