- Abstract
The author looks at some potentially important areas for cardiovascular research. He mentions the late U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt's assertion that knowledge and science are important for improving national strength. He cites that in the area of biology, cardiovascular research leads to discoveries on the human genome and stem cell technology, among others. Other areas include new treatment models for cardiovascular disease, diagnostic tests and imaging and new device technologies.
