- Abstract
The article discusses the techniques of rearing the glass eels from eggs in Japan. It describes a new rearing system for eel leptocephalus larvae using the planktonkreisel tank which is originally developed for the maintenance of planktonic animals. It is stated that the planktonkreisel system allows the eel growers to raise eels with much lower time and labor costs. It is added that the system could be used to prevent the unfavorable jaw deformity which could have adverse effect on the subsequent survival of glass eels.
