- Abstract
This paper deals with some aspects of the transnationalization of Brazilian pentecostalism to Portugal, focusing mainly on the trajectory of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (UCKG) in that country. More specifically, we investigated resistance movements against the implementation of the UCKG in the northern part of Portugal triggered by an attempt to buy the Coliseum, a concert venue located in the city of Porto. We analyzed not only synchronous conjunctural aspects, but also diachronic aspects. This effort has required us to establish a dialogue, even though not directly, with processes of globalization and their consequences. As the research progressed, migration processes, local stories, identities, memory, phobias, power struggles, failed economic plans and religious messages surfaced.
