- Abstract
This study is a theoretical study that deals with the issue of disability, which is one of the important issues today and all over the world. In the study, attitudes and views towards the disabled are examined from a sociological perspective. In this context, the thoughts of social theorists on the marginalization and reconstruction of the body are discussed. A disabled person is defined as an individual who is pushed into the background in social life due to certain disorders in her body and because of these disorders. Since disability has always been interpreted in relation to the human body, it has become the subject of discussion throughout humanity's entire life cycle, along with issues such as body, management and production. In addition, when we look at history, people with disabilities are always seen as individuals who are marginalized, excluded, isolated and left to die. Due to negative opinions such as "the disabled, people who cannot do anything, dependent on others", disabled individuals cannot actively participate in society and are included in the disadvantaged group living in poverty. The aim of the article is to explain disability in terms of the discussed ideas about the marginalization of the body.
