- Abstract
The article reports on the case of a 42-year-old male HIV patient who was admitted to the hospital because of dark urine, myalgias and muscle weakness. He has an antiretroviral regimen composed of lamivudine, abacavir, indinavir and ritonavir. Three weeks before his admission, he took a combination of ezetimibe and simvastatin with pravastatin to address his hyperlipidaemia. His laboratory tests confirmed the diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis. The lipid-lowering drugs were discontinued and replaced with urine alkalinization and hydration.
