- Title
Examining the Health-Risk Tradeoffs of Mandatory Bicycle Helmet Laws.
- Authors
Newbold, Stephen C.
- Abstract
The article presents a commentary on a simple model developed by P. De Jong for examining the health-risk tradeoffs of mandatory bicycle helmet laws. A number of other factors that may be crucial for determining the health-risk tradeoffs and therefore the net public health impacts of mandatory helmet laws, but do not appear in the model, are discussed. It notes that data from the U.S. is roughly consistent with De Jong's results.
