- Title
Nicht in unserem Namen! Zur Kritik am Konzept einer freiwilligen Psychiatrie aus Betroffenenperspektive.
- Abstract
The criticism by Brieger & Menzel (2020) and by Gahr & Spitzer (2020) of the concept of an exclusively voluntary psychiatry (Zinkler & von Peter, 2019) is countered from the perspective of those with lived experience of psychiatry. The analysis and assessment of the current human rights situation in psychiatry from a user and survivor perspective is very different and the problem of persistent psychiatric violence is therefore given the highest priority. Against this background, a concept which aims not only at avoiding or reducing inadmissible human rights violations, but at their complete elimination, is welcomed without reservation. Concerns that the realization of human rights in psychiatry would also result in a deterioration in human rights for those affected appear absurd and far-fetched.
