- Title
Do You Want to Subsidize Rich People's Political Contributions?
- Authors
BAKER, DEAN
- Abstract
The article discusses the issue of wealthy individuals and corporations being able to use loopholes in the tax code to avoid paying taxes on capital gains when making political contributions. This allows them to effectively receive taxpayer subsidies for their political agenda. The article argues that this is unfair and proposes a bill, the End Tax Breaks for Dark Money Act, which would eliminate this loophole and require the rich to pay their taxes before making campaign contributions. The article suggests that this would level the playing field and prevent taxpayers from subsidizing the political contributions of the wealthy.
