- Abstract
The article discusses the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, which is the oldest library in the country and has recently received funding from the government of Qatar to build a modern facility. The library houses a collection of illuminated manuscripts, some of which date back to the Middle Ages. The article also highlights the library's efforts to preserve its collection during the war years, as well as the works of Yugoslav writer Ivo Andric, who was born in Bosnia and won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1961.
