- Title
Semmelweis and his thesis.
- Authors
Loudon, Irvine
- Abstract
The author argues that some of the recognitions made to Ignaz Phillip Semmelweis, one of the famous personality in the history of obstetrics are not true. It is not true that Semmelweis was the first person to discover that puerperal fever was contagious because it was already shown that the disease is contagious 40 years before him. He further added that Semmelweis' thesis entitled "The Etiology, the Concept and the Prophylaxis of Childbed Fever" is immensely long and badly written.
