- Title
Mechanical properties: Overcoming old barriers.
- Authors
Ackland, G. J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the dislocation motion in the metals which is crucial to its deformation. It informs that at the lower temperature quantum effects play an important role improving quantitative predictions of mechanical properties. It further informs that the transition-state theory plays important role in understanding reaction rates and at the same time quantum effects include zero-point motion and tunneling across the barrier.
