The article discusses the result of a study conducted by S. Vajda and colleagues suggesting that the preparation of supported subnanometer platinum clusters that are stable may provide a novel design strategy for industrial nanocatalysts. It was found that the catalytic activity of the clusters for the oxidative dehydrogenation of propane is 40-100 times higher than platinum catalysts.
