- Abstract
The article focuses on how educators ensure that a child gets opportunities to develop his communication skills and his talent. Particular focus was given on how first graders learned as they delve into various forms of communication to express their ideas and knowledge. The authors also describe the experiences of a first grade teacher and how she is meeting these challenges. It says that during a science lesson, the teacher and the class created a life-size board game emphasizing the children's inquiry into the ecology of the rainforest. It adds that the game attained learning goals supported by California state standards for art, language arts, and science in first grade. It ends that the board game and the rainforest inquiry allowed children to express themselves more effectively.
