- Authors
Geyer, Sherree
- Abstract
The article discusses the challenges anesthesiologists can face when managing difficult airways. In a guideline by the American Society of Anesthesiologists, a difficult airway is one in which an anesthesiologist has trouble with mask ventilation, intubation, or both. According to professor of anesthesiology Charles Durbin, the three factors to consider are visibility of the pharynx, ease of jaw movement, and neck mobility.
