- Title
Alexander Or Feldenkrais: Which Method Is Best?
- Authors
Peterson, Patti H.
- Abstract
The article determines which between Frederick Matthias Alexander and Moshe Feldenkrais method is better to be applied in music instruction. It explains that the Alexander Technique focuses on the skeleton particularly the spine and trains awareness of the many habits that the body has developed over a lifetime, allowing the user to transform bad habits into more productive ones. Meanwhile, Feldenkrais method teaches kinesthetic imaging. Both routines are believed to replace stretches that choral directors ask singers to do before rehearsals.
