- Authors
THOMAS, BERNICE L.
- Abstract
An essay is presented on the "Cranberry Pickers" mural, a painting by American artist Lewis Rubenstein which appears at the Wareham Post Office in Wareham, Massachusetts. It explores how the mural, completed in 1940, was funded by the U.S. Department of the Treasury as part of the New Deal murals project started by former President Franklin D. Roosevelt and describes how the painting reflects the history of cranberry production and the use of migrant African workers in Massachusetts.
