- Abstract
The article presents the results of research into the material properties of a cyanate ester (CE) resin modified with epoxidized soybean oil (ESO), in the context of exploring the potential uses of renewable resources such as vegetable oils for industrial polymer production. The polymer networks of CE/ESO blends were investigated using dynamic mechanical analysis, scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and a differential scanning calorimeter. The rubber plateau and glassy state network storage moduli and glass transition temperatures were found to vary with ESO content. Information on variations in the curing rate, water absorption and elongations at break are also provided.
