- Abstract
This article presents information about positive behavior support as a proactive method for responding to the increasing diversity of students and student problems that need to be controlled in order for schools to provide positive learning environments for all students. Problem students have been primarily treated through reactionary discipline approaches, such as suspension and expulsion. The article notes that such disciplinary reactions don't help students who most need help. The article also explains that positive behavior support teaches students appropriate behaviors. This approach is especially needed for special needs students.
