- Abstract
This article presents a research report on academic leadership as a measure of institutional quality in higher education. It is reported that research on higher education has increased appreciably the past decade. In addition, the sophistication of inquiry has risen correspondingly. But increased output supposedly means that methodological practices should be monitored. By this research, institutional quality scores were constructed by analysing, proportion of faculty, faculty-student ratio, library books per student, academic leadership, and institutional expenditure per student. Three measures of academic freedom were also constructed.
