- Abstract
The author in this article discusses the research reviewed by K. A. Spencer and S. A. MacDougall-Shackleton on how environmental stress affects the brain and immune system of some birds. It states that brain development of birds coincide with the development of many other fundamental body functions, and exposure to stress during developmental stage manifest in the complexity of their songs. They further suggest that stress in early life might have impact on cognitive and physiological traits at once.
