This article examines the historical relationship between the sport of ice-hockey in Canada and the judicial system. From as early as the 1900s, Canadian courts examined cases related to violent acts during ice-hockey games. Cases have ranged from a player spitting on another player, to a case of a player being killed by an ice-hockey stick.
