A literary criticism of the book “So I Am Glad” by Alison Louise Kennedy is presented. Topics include Kennedy's writing style as well as the skillful juxtaposition of realism and the fantasy and the surreal; wining of the 2007 Costa Book Award for "Day" by her; and fragmentariness and plural identities of the dominant aspects of the Scottish post-Union culture. An overview of the story is also given.
