- Abstract
The article explores the challenges of COVID-19 pandemic to Japanese society including health, economic, social, and cultural risks. It presents figure showing an international comparison of death by COVID-19. It evaluates and reports how Japan's social institutions and social relations responded to the situation. It mentions five articles in the issue which tells how Japanese society have dealt with the pandemic in terms of politics, economy, individuals, communities, and households.
