The article examines the impact of powerful introductory emotional hooks set forth in the appellate briefs in several decisions of the U.S. Supreme Court in the cases Obergefell v. Hodges on same-sex marriage, AT&T Mobility v. Concepcion on class-wide arbitration waivers and Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. abortion on religious freedom. It mentions that powerful role that deeply ingrained moral beliefs with the judiciary craft legal opinions in the judicial system of the U.S.
