- Abstract
This present study was conducted in randomly selected villages of Mohammadi block of district Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. The results shows the socio-economic status of fishermen in this block. This study mainly focuses on their age, educational background, experience in fisheries activities, fish production and species cultured. Present study illustrates that the fishmen of age group 35-40 years old are more active, while 35% primary educated people are more involved in fish culture. This study also reveals that the Pangas fish culture is more dominant in this area. The production of this block is lower than state average production. This study demonstrates that SC/ST community is more involve in fish culture activities.
