- Abstract
An interview with African American journalist Dorothy Butler Gilliam is presented. Gilliam mentions her career development after being hired as the first African American female reporter for the periodical "The Washington Post" with Luther P. Jackson, Jr. and Wallace Terry. She outlines her experiences of growing up in a racially segregated environment and attending to an all African American school. She also shares her personal experiences of being discriminated for being an African American.
