- Abstract
The article focuses on the play "The Odyssey: A Stage Version," written by Derek Walcott. Since its first public performance on July 2, 1992 and its formal publication in 1993, Derek Walcott's "The Odyssey: A Stage Version" has rightfully earned its critical praise. The play moves beyond typical European dichotomies as it forgoes the presence of true heroes, monsters, or even colonizers and colonized. Walcott's play does not alter poet Homer's original poem but finds a postcolonial perspective that actually preexists in Homer's "Odyssey."
