The Co-Construction of Racialized Identity Among Somali Youth.
- Abstract
Chapter 4 of the book "Language Learning: A Journal of Research in Language Studies" is presented. It discusses data on the racialized identity among Somali youth in the U.S. It involved 23 male Somali high school and college students and 10 female Somali high school and college students. It found that many Somali students experienced being judged and misjudged about racial identity by peers, elders and teachers. It lists ways groups could work together for equity and social justice such as explore how different societies marginalize people.
