- Abstract
By studying the phase separation mechanism of heavy metals and ordinary metal elements in the funnel glass of cathode ray tube (CRT) under air atmosphere, and regulating the phase separation process conditions, various heavy metals and common metals contained in the CRT funnel glass could be effectively removed, and high silica glass powder with high economic value was obtained. After the phase separation process, the funnel glass was separated into two independent phases (B2O3 rich phase and SiO2 rich phase). Heavy metals and ordinary metals contained in the CRT funnel glass were mainly concentrated in the B2O3 rich phase which has connected structure. Increasing the B2O3 addition amount and smelting temperature can promote the enrichment of metal elements in B2O3 rich phase. When the funnel glass was mixed with 20% B2O3 and heated at 1 000 ℃ for 30 min, the distribution rates of Pb, Ba, Sr, Na, K, Ca and Al in the rich B2O3 phase were 99.48%, 99.26%, 99.56%, 99.48%, 99.90%, 98.98% and 81.20% respectively. The B2O3 rich phase and various metal elements in the phase separation product were dissolved by hot acid, and the solid residue was high silica glass powder with SiO2 content as 97.56%.
