- Title
MILLIKEN v. GREEN: BREAKING THE LEGISLATIVE DEADLOCK.
- Authors
HAIN, ELWOOD
- Abstract
The article discusses the impact of the case Governor v. State Treasurer in Michigan in 1971 on school finance litigation or litigation. It states that prior to this, Michigan provided more funding to public schools in wealthier districts, and calls for reform were taken by the state's governor, William Milliken, as part of his re-election campaign. It claims he did nothing, however, until the California Supreme Court's ruling in the same year on the Serrano v. Priest case. Desegregation sidelined the issue, later in the year, but Michigan followed California's ruling later.
