- Title
BROADCASTING AND THE ANTITRUST LAWS.
- Authors
HANSEN, VICTOR R.
- Abstract
The article discusses the issue of antitrust laws related to television and radio broadcasting. The U.S. Congress has marked out government responsibilities for antitrust enforcement and regulation of broadcasting activities by a series of interrelated statutes. As mentioned, the investigation of U.S. Antitrust Division of the network control over talent and program production has suggested that the principal television networks have the power to dominate all aspects of television programming. The Network Study Group of the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) made its final report on network broadcasting in 1956. It made recommendations for more stringent FCC regulation of television network practices.
