- Abstract
The article focuses on how receivership in the U.S. railroad industry had benefited the public interest. It mentions that receivership had managed to cover operating expenses, taxes, and bond interest which eased the pressure on railroad earnings and safeguarding the charges and the integrity of railroad service and operation. It highlights the reorganization plans which governed under Section 77 of the Bankruptcy Act of the U.S., to reorganize and recapitalize the railroad industry. It informs the plan focuses on increasing earnings, raising revenues, and cutting expenses. It investigates how Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) administered the reorganization plan.
