Denmark: Sustainable Development Indicators.
- Authors
Cour, Jens La
- Abstract
The article focuses on the significance of sustainable development indicators in Denmark. The Danish Government published the set of sustainable development indicators in Denmark in August 2002, prior to the World Summit on Sustainable Development in Johannesburg, South Africa. The aim of the Danish sustainable development indicators is to ensure that decision-makers and the public can obtain an overall and explicit description of the path to sustainable development. Denmark supports the underlying idea that indicators are most useful in the context of sustainable development and when building interfaces between the economic, social and environmental dimensions. The Danish strategy on sustainable development contains long and short-term targets and objectives.
