- Abstract
The transcribed text was imported onto a readability calculator for analysis.6 Each PIL was assessed using three readability scores: the Flesch Reading Ease (FRE) score, the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL) and the Gunning Fog Index (GFI). Patient information leaflets (PILs) are important tools that help to educate patients about their health, and so can be useful in gaining informed consent for surgery.
