- Abstract
The article discusses the author's experience of having Will Hobbs, author of "Ghost Canoe," "Downriver," and "Far North," and recipient of the Edgar Allen Poe Award, as a seventh-grade teacher at Miller Junior High School in Durango, Colorado. The author discusses his distaste for reading while growing up, and how Hobbs convinced him to read by creating a calm reading atmosphere in the classroom.
