- Abstract
The article discusses the relation of the philosophical group Metaphysical Club in Cambridge, Massachusetts to positivism from 1865 to 1875. The views of philosophers Chauncey Wright, John Fiske, and Francis Ellingwood Abbot are addressed. The influence of the philosophers Auguste Comte and John Stuart Mill on these thinkers is noted. The role of positivism in the relation between science and philosophy is analyzed.
