- Abstract
Many works have been done regarding the problem of Prophethood that has been one of the most important issues of Islamic Theology (Kalam) from past to the present day and problem has been analysed from different perspectives. One of the Kalam scholars who analyzed this subject is Sırrı Giridi who was one of the politicians and scholars of the last periods of Ottoman Empire and belonged to Maturidi School. According to him, prophet is a person who was selected by Allah to inform the commands and prohibitions of Allah to the people. As for Prophethood, it is used to sign the institution that did this duty. Allah has provided for humankind and jinns who have been created as a being who has mind and will to eliminate the problems and doubts concerning the World and hereafter as the necessity of His purpose and wisdom. The main aim in this article will be to evaluate the problem of Prophethood in the light of the opinions and thoughts of Giridi. Firstly, the analysis of concept will be done. Secondly, the necessity of Prophethood, its wisdom and evidence will be examined with rational and Kur'an verses. Finally, it will be investigated whether any superiority between Prophets has been or not.
